A Healthy Pregnancy, Month by Month
By the team at Noble Care Hospital, Sikar
Pregnancy is a special journey โ and regular care makes it a safe one. Here is a simple guide for expecting mothers and their families.
Register early, check regularly
Visit a gynaecologist as soon as pregnancy is confirmed. Early registration allows time for basic tests (blood group, haemoglobin, sugar, thyroid) and starting folic acid. A typical check-up schedule:
- Up to 7 months: once a month
- 8th month: every 15 days
- 9th month: every week
Your doctor will advise ultrasounds at specific stages to track the baby's growth โ do not skip them.
Eat well, rest well
- Home-cooked, balanced meals โ dal, roti, vegetables, milk, fruits.
- Iron and calcium tablets as prescribed โ they prevent weakness and support the baby's bones.
- Plenty of water, and 7โ8 hours of sleep with a short afternoon rest.
- Light activity and walking are good unless your doctor advises rest.
Avoid
- Self-medication โ even common painkillers, without asking your doctor
- Tobacco, alcohol and excessive tea/coffee
- Lifting heavy weights, especially in the first and last months
Warning signs โ come to the hospital immediately
- Bleeding or fluid leaking from the vagina
- Severe headache, blurred vision or swelling of face and hands
- Baby's movements noticeably reduced
- Fever, severe vomiting or severe abdominal pain
In any of these situations, do not wait for your next appointment. Call 01572-271272 โ our emergency and maternity team is available 24ร7.
